Happy 2011! Hope it is off to a great start for you!

I wanted to focus this year on printing images. So many people love to have the digital images from a session. I understand that! I save way too many images. I have a hard time throwing away even horrible captures from a session.

But what happens to those digital images? Do they get shared online? Saved on your computer? I believe they should be PRINTED! Large for the wall, small for a scrapebook, 4x6 for an album - doesn't matter, just get them printed.

And this goes for your personal pictures that you take on a daily basis! Go get your phone, camera, iTouch, Nintendo Dsi, wherever your pictures are - plug it into your computer and get printing!

To that end, sessions in 2011 with J Grady Photography WILL include prints! I WILL help you get them up and displayed on your walls. I WILL create beautiful albums for you to enjoy for years and years!

Summer and weddings!

I have had a very busy summer! (Hopefully you are enjoying summer 2010 as much as I am!)

I wanted to share a recent wedding that I helped capture. Everything was so beautiful and it was the perfect summer day for an outdoor wedding!

The flowers for this wedding were done by The Petal's Edge. They were gorgeous and vibrant and so fresh!

The ceremony and reception were held at Homestead Meadows in Appleton. Such an amazing location to hold an outdoor wedding!

Weeds! Aren't they annoying?! As I was pulling ours the other day, I got a bouquet brought to me. Pretty yellow "flowers".

How can we call these wonderful little rays of sunshine weeds? If you know a young child, then chances are you have been brought a bouquet of these "flowers". And you smiled, said "thank you" and the child thought he made your day!

Don't forget to enjoy the little things in life! And try looking at something from a different perspective, someone's weeds just might be someone else's flowers!

It was a joy to welcome this little guy into the studio. He just turned two and I had so much fun capturing all his two-fullness!

He was just the cutest "hot dog", wasn't he?

I'm sure he is going to have a great summer, exploring it as only a two-year-old can!

What a fun post today! Last weekend, I took the time to head down to Madison for a photog seminar. A friend and I checked out Madison the next day and took some time to take some pictures...of ME, among other things!
It was interesting to be in front of the camera, to say the least. And while I am my own worst critic, as many people are, I am very happy with my "headshots"!

Spring!

We have had the most beautiful weather this spring for Wisconsin! I don't know what this will mean for the coming summer, I just hope it continues!

My children and I were out at my mom and dad's last week and during a walk, I captured the following:

Beautiful cherry blossoms, my daughter rocking a doll, lovely spring colors, and my son and summer haze.

Snapping pics has always been a way for me to remember. I have the worst memory and while this may be useful in some ways (I can enjoy movies over and over! Was high school really that bad? What did hubby and I argue about last month?), when it comes to remembering my childhood and now the life with my family, it’s not so useful.

I love being able to look at a photograph and let it bring me back to THAT EXACT MOMENT, with the feelings, smells, emotions coming right with it.

Why do I love photographing YOU? I want to capture your step in time. When…Johnny was THAT small. When…Sophie was THAT wobbly on her feet. When….Tom and Julie were THAT newly in love. When….your family was JUST the three of you, the four of you, the five of you.

I love seeing YOU become the art in your home. All the little bits and pieces of a newborn displayed over her crib. The family all together framed in the living room. A montage of ages in the hallway.
